Rwanda Hingakawa - June 2021
Rwanda Hingakawa returned to the Seattle Reserve Roastery on June 22, 2021, and is available at core stores which offer Reserve coffees (select Starbucks locations) in the U.S.
This is a returning favorite coffee. It’s a great summer coffee as its flavor profile lends itself to cold brew coffee as well as hot brewed coffee. While each year the description of the coffee changes (which makes good sense, as coffee is a farm product and will vary from crop to crop) usually the description involves floral and citrus notes, which are well suited to cold brewing coffee.
I believe the first offering of this coffee was in 2016. In 2019. there was a limited release of the coffee as well as an international release of this Rwanda coffee. And here is a look at the 2020 release of Rwanda Hingakawa.
In 2020, the coffee description was “A celebration of mandarin and dark chocolate flavors with a honeycomb sweetness.” And this year, the description on the 2021 card says “Delicate floral aromas with blood orange and green melon notes and a brown-sugar sweetness.”
While the artwork on the card has repeated over several years, the descriptions always change. Also note, in 2021, the words “small lot coffee” have been removed from the front side of the card.
