Bolivia Buenavista Estate Geisha
Some time between May 12th and May 19th this year, this Bolivia coffee appeared at the Roastery. I went out of town between 5-12-18 and 5-19-18, and when I left this coffee hadn't appeared, and when I returned home to Seattle, this was new!
This is a Geisha coffee, which means it's offered at a premium price point, and a more exclusive and rare coffee. The 8.8 ounce (all the black Reserve bags are 8.8 ounces) bag of this Bolivia Buenavista Estate Geisha coffee retails for $40.
The design of the card has an interesting story: The coffee trees on this farm are organized in rows, like a vineyard of grapes or a farmer's rows of corn. The artistic interpretation of that is embodied in this card's design, with rows the symbolize coffee growing, with rakes, water, and ultimately coffee flowers, all designed in tones of the colors in the Bolivian flag.
I've heard this will be a U.S. release coffee but given its price point and rarity, it's my educated guess that not every Starbucks location in the U.S. which offers Reserve will get this coffee. I would guess that it will eventually appear at all Reserve bar locations. When I reference Reserve Bar stores, I'm referring to the unique stores such as the beautiful new Reserve Bar in Los Angeles at Hillhurst & Avocado, opened in October 2017.
